Even in the run-up to Christmas, activity in the arts world carries on at pace. Arts Council England is to have a new Chair, Dame Liz Forgan, and ACE’s new, free theatre project comes one step closer to fruition. In addition, two sets of data have been released highlighting our nation’s engagement in cultural activities. Finally, we are seeking your views: please take part in an important survey regarding the possible tensions between improving participation and maintaining excellence in the arts. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you the very best of the season. NCA offices will be closed from 24 December and will re-open on 5 January. The Friday Briefing will return on 9 January.
