dance, 2004
The Culture, Media and Sport (CMS) Select Committee
invited written submissions from interested parties and suggested the
areas below for consideration. The NCA submitted a response in April 2004.
Current situation
- The state of the dance economy, infrastructure
and built environment.
- The economic prospects for dance and the relationship
between public and commercial investment.
- The benefits of dance as a sporting activity
and the degree to which these are recognised.
Public policy and investment
- How public policy and investment have influenced
the development of dance as an art form in the UK.
- The effectiveness of Arts Council England in
developing and implementing policies and investment.
- The level of public investment in dance.
- The effect on dance funding of Government interest
in 'active lifestyles'.
Young people and dance
- The opportunities and support for the inclusion
of young people in dance and their development.
- The role of dance in education.
