Voluntary arts delegation, 2002 On 4 November 2002, the NCA took a delegation to meet Baroness Blackstone, Arts Minister, to present the concerns and desires of the voluntary arts sector. Victoria Todd, NCA Director, introduced the area of discussion, outlining the unifying themes of participation, access and engagement. Delegates then spoke about the need for recognition across Government of the sector's value, good practice and scale and the need for comprehensive research to improve understanding of the sector, feeding into a mapping document. The importance of increasing training in the voluntary sector was stressed and the Partnerships for Progression scheme cited as a possible means by which training could be provided. The discrepancy between funding levels in different areas of the UK was noted, as was the need for commitment from ACE to the voluntary sector.
