Why join the NCA?

Speaking with a united voice…

The arts in the UK are a major success story - artistically but also economically and socially. Financial support by government is vital to the sector's future development. Though the threat to the arts may not be as apparent as in the 1980s, when government cuts in arts spending had a devastating effect, it remains ever present. When public purse strings tighten the arts are often the first to be cut. To prevent this from happening the sector must speak to government with one voice and in a language it understands.

Since 1985 the NCA has provided a voice for the arts world in all its diversity. As the UK's only independent lobbying organisation for all the arts it has served its members by providing them with the skills, knowledge and opportunity to unite and speak up for the arts with one powerful voice.

Membership lies at the heart of the NCA, both financially and in terms of the work it undertakes. The NCA does not receive subsidy from the Arts Council or from any governmental or political body and thus is entirely dependent on membership subscriptions to carry out its vital lobbying and advocacy work.

By becoming a member of the NCA you would not only benefit from the expertise of our specialist staff and from the services we offer, but also ensuring that your concerns were heard by those who matter. So join the NCA today, add your voice to our successful and highly effective lobby and work with us to safeguard the future development of the arts in the UK.
