Press release - 6 April 2004 Arts and education work together on 'Cultural Entitlement' Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport, Charles Clarke, Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Estelle Morris, Minister for Art and David Miliband, Minister of State for School Standards to meet with leading figures of the arts community on 4 May 2004. Leading figures in culture, art and education will meet with Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport, Charles Clarke, Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Estelle Morris, Minister for Art and David Miliband, Minister of State for School Standards as part of a consultation seminar facilitated by the National Campaign for the Arts (at the request of the departments for Culture, Media and Sport and of Education and Skills). The seminar will look at ways in which the arts and education sectors can work more effectively together to ensure 'cultural entitlement' to children and young people across England. The seminar, taking place in the run up to the next general election, will aim to develop policy ideas for improving current education and arts provision and co-ordination between the two areas.
