Press release - 19 March 2008 NCA welcomes Dance Review The National Campaign for the Arts (NCA) welcomes the publication of the Dance Review and Government’s response as an ‘important step for dance’. NCA Director, Louise de Winter, said: “This has been a long journey which began with the Dance Manifesto, published in 2006 by the NCA in partnership with Dance UK. In this we called for dance to be an integral part of every young person’s educational experience. As well as encouraging young people to be more active, studies have shown that dance can make a huge difference to a child’s overall performance at school. We also wanted to see more opportunities for young people to dance with professionals and to experience and learn how to perform. We hope that the initiatives announced, taken from Tony Hall’s excellent Dance Review, will provide real opportunities for the thousands of eager and talented children who want to dance and learn how to excel.” ENDS
